Our history

Spanning over 4,942 acres, the Sandricourt Estate is one of the last French estates of such vast size still in operation and with household staff.

Known since the Middle Ages, it was on this land that, in 1493, one of the greatest knightly tournaments, "Le Pas d’Armes de Sandricourt", took place. The writings and illustrations from 1475-1500 that document this event are now preserved in the Arsenal Library.

Acquired in 1908 by American Robert Walton Goelet, he was responsible for its development. The Sandricourt Estate is still owned by the Goelet family, now in its third generation.
